Can an AI receptionist book into Acuity Scheduling?
Yes. The AI reads your appointment types and staff calendars, offers openings that exist, and books, reschedules or cancels the appointment in Acuity while the caller is on the phone. The one condition is Acuity's plan tier.
Acuity's REST API exposes appointment types, calendars, live availability and appointment creation, cancellation and rescheduling. Access needs Acuity's Premium plan, which is the tier that issues an API key.
Reads services and staff, checks availability per staff calendar, books on the call, and handles reschedules and cancellations through Acuity's own endpoints so Acuity sends its normal notices. Proven end to end against a live Acuity account, not read from the docs.
If you are on Acuity Premium, callers hang up booked and the appointment is in your Acuity calendar before they do. Give us your User ID and API key and it is connected in a minute.
The slot is taken before the caller hangs up.
The AI reads live availability, offers real times, writes the appointment and texts a confirmation. No request queue, nothing for your team to re-key.
Every assistant opens with your business name, the recording notice, and an introduction as an AI assistant. Anyone who asks for a person gets one.
Before we connect Acuity Scheduling.
The vendor sets most of these conditions, not us. Knowing them up front is the difference between a two-day setup and a surprise.
- Acuity Premium plan (Starter and Standard do not include an API key)
- Your numeric User ID and API key from Integrations > API in Acuity
- Appointment types with durations, and one calendar per staff member if callers ask by name
- Your public scheduling link, for callers who would rather book themselves
Where the AI books for real, and where it can't yet.
Some booking systems let outside software write appointments. Some do not, and no vendor can change that. We keep the vendor's side and our side separate, and we update the list as we prove each system.

Does the AI actually write the appointment into Acuity?
Yes. It reads live availability, offers real times, and creates the appointment in Acuity while the caller is on the phone, with the client matched to your existing record by phone number or created if they are new. It needs Acuity's Premium plan; Starter and Standard do not issue an API key.
What if the booking fails mid-call?
The AI does not pretend. It tells the caller it has sent the request to your team, texts your team the details, and the call shows up in your dashboard with the transcript and the reason the write failed.
Can it reschedule or cancel too?
Yes. It looks up the caller's upcoming appointments by phone number, reads them back, and moves or cancels the one they choose. Changes show in Acuity immediately.
Does the AI tell callers it's an AI?
Yes. Right after your business name it says the call may be recorded for quality assurance, then introduces itself as an AI assistant. Callers can ask for a person at any time.
Do I need to change my phone number?
No. We forward your existing number, or port it onto our phone system if you want us to run the whole thing. Your customers never notice.
Not sure what you are running?
Tell us what you book on and we will tell you plainly what we can and cannot do with it, before you pay for anything.
